MY NEW TOY!!

Ahhh! I get so excited when I get new exercise stuff!!!:) Whether it be a new shirt, new shoes, heck... Even new socks I get excited about!! Haha!! :)

Well, I'm SUPER excited tonight because I finally purchased a Fitbit Flex!  I've been thinking about getting one for the past few months.... did some
comparisons between the Fitbit Flex, the Fitbit Force and the Jawbone Up. I decided upon the flex over the up because first, it syncs via Bluetooth, where as the Jawbone has to be plugged in to update. Also, I have quite a few friends with the Flex so I knew I would enjoy the community aspect of it!  Now, a lot of people said get the Force because it has the display. And while that's handy, the force is a little bit bigger than the Flex and because I have tiny wrists, I wanted to keep it small. :)

This bracelet is awesome!!  It tracks steps taken, calories burned, hours slept, quality of sleep. Is has a silent alarm even which is perfect for me so I don't have to listen to my boyfriend complain when my alarm beeps in the morning! (Gotta keep the man happy!! Hehe!). You can even wear it in the shower! What??? Haha!

Alright, post over! Just had to share my excitement!!! :))))

My T25 Journey - Day One

Hello all, welcome to Lean Living!! :) So, maybe you found me via my Facebook page? Or maybe you just happened to stumble upon my blog through Google or Pinterest or one of the other millions of ways you can find something on the internet now-a-days! :)  BUT, regardless of how you got here, thank you for visiting!

Today I start the OFFICIAL documentation of my Beachbody T25 journey!  I’ll be checking in every week (I’ll shoot for every Friday, so make sure to check back!).  All stats will be posted (pictures, measurements, weight, bf%, etc!).  Right now, I’m about two weeks into the program and I’m really loving it so far.  I’m work full time and I’m also a part time college student, so having workouts that are only 25 minutes per day are PERFECT for my busy schedule.  It leaves me the time I need to tidy up the house and spend time with my 3 “kids”…yes, they’re dogs, lol... and my boyfriend. <3

I have a meal plan that I am trying my very best to stick to every single day, with one optional treat meal per week! :) I'm looking forward to you all watching and keeping me accountable!!

So, here are my day ONE statistics!  Check back this FRIDAY for an update! <3

Clean Taco Seasoning

We all know that when you're eating healthy, two things that you want to try to avoid as much as possible are sugar and SALT!

In low amounts, salt is okay. It won't really effect your health or your weight loss journey, BUT if you take a look at ANY prepackaged food you will soon realize almost everything is LOADED with it!  In fact, 9 out of 10 Americans consume too much sodium every day and don't even realize it!  They think because they're not sprinkling salt on their food, they'll be okay. Sadly, they're wrong.

Americans consume 3400 mg of sodium on average.  The recommended daily amount is only 1500 mg! WHOAAA!!

So what are some effects of excess sodium?  Well, just here is SOME of the problems it can cause!

  • High Blood Pressure
  • Stroke
  • Heart Failure
  • Osteoperosis
  • Stomach Cancer
  • Kidney Disease
  • Kidney Stones
  • Enlarged Heart Muscle
  • Headaches
  • Increased water retension, leading to:
    • Puffiness
    • Bloating
    • Weight Gain

So how do we avoid taking in too much sodium?  #1, eat clean. Avoid processed foods! Buy frozen veggies over canned.  Make your own pasta sauces. Make your own spice mixes!

Speaking of SPICE MIXES! Here is the point of this blog post! :) My CLEAN and SALT-FREE taco seasoning! It's so good, I use it on everything from chicken, fish, shrimp to potatoes & veggies!

Check out the recipe below!! <3
